Dade County Dates by Custody
A projected date is a calculation or tentative corrections event. An actual release date records what occurred. The gap matters. Dade County defendants may be in local holding, a Cedar County contract bed, a Missouri Department of Corrections institution, or successor custody under another case. Each custodian maintains a different part of the timeline.
Scheduled is not actual: a minimum, presumptive, conditional, or maximum date can change and does not prove that a person left custody.
| Custody stage | Useful date source | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial detention | 28th Circuit docket, bond order, and jail status | No fixed endpoint may exist. |
| Dade county sentence | Judgment, verified jail credit, and jail calculation | No published local good-time schedule was found. |
| MODOC prison term | Offender Search, Sunshine fields, caseworker, and Board record | Several dates have different meanings. |
| Parole or conditional release | MODOC active status and District 9 | Physical release is not final discharge. |
Someone who bonds out has a release event but no sentence endpoint. Someone on parole has left prison while remaining an active MODOC offender. Full discharge ends state supervision and can make the person disappear from the active public search. These differences prevent a roster status or one future date from being used as a complete answer.
Find a Dade County Date
Begin with the court and custodian that fit the case. The Dade County Circuit Clerk tells users to choose the 28th Judicial Circuit in Case.net. The docket can show judgment, amended sentence, bond, dismissal, probation, revocation, and commitment entries. It may not show the exact time a jail opened the door, but it explains the legal authority behind a move.
- Confirm whether the person is pretrial, serving a county term, in MODOC, or already under supervision.
- Search the Dade court case by case number when possible and read the judgment, sentence, credit, and later amendments.
- For local custody, call Dade County Sheriff Ryan Robison's office at 417-238-2400 and ask which jail owns the calculation. Check Cedar when Dade used its contract bed.
- For a state sentence, search the MODOC active offender portal by DOC number or verified name.
- Use the exact field label shown. Ask the institutional caseworker or parole office about a case-specific date.
- Confirm the actual event through the jail movement record, MODOC record, or a custody alert.
The broader Dade County released-inmate record path helps when the person has already left a live roster. A missing name alone proves nothing. Local roster removal, transfer to MODOC, and final community release can look alike from outside the agency database.
Note: A Dade case can end while another warrant or detainer keeps the person in custody under a different authority.
Dade County Jail Date Math
For a misdemeanor or another lawful county-jail sentence, start with the written judgment. RSMo 558.011 supplies Missouri sentence rules, while RSMo 558.031 requires credit for qualifying custody tied to the offense before the sentence begins. The practical reconciliation is the sentence endpoint, less verified qualifying credit and other credits actually authorized, plus lawful interruptions or holds.
That expression is not a public calculator. Concurrent terms run together in ways that differ from consecutive terms. Multiple cases, a revoked release, corrected credit, commitment paperwork, warrants, and transport can alter the result. Dade County research found no official Dade or Cedar written local good-time schedule. It also found no verified weekend-release rule or fixed processing hour.
Do not assume day-for-day credit, automatic early release, or a Friday release when a term ends on Sunday. Ask the sentencing court for the current judgment and credit entry. Then ask the jail that physically holds the person for its calculation. Dade may hold the arrest and transport record while Cedar holds the admission and movement record.
Missouri Prison Release Fields
Missouri prison records use several distinct labels. The MODOC Sunshine layout includes “Sentence-I Minimum Release Date.” The glossary separately defines a presumptive parole release date as tentative and dependent on behavior and an acceptable release plan. Conditional release is the supervised portion of many prison terms. Maximum release describes another endpoint. None should be silently renamed “the release date.”
The MODOC Sunshine Law page explains its historical data, nightly update, and fields for current and former subjects. The data can reach back to about 1974 and is useful after discharge, when the interactive search no longer returns the person.
The capture shows why historical completion and minimum or maximum fields matter to Dade County searches. A nightly structured file can preserve discharge evidence even when the active public profile is gone.
The active MODOC portal warns that it covers active offenders and excludes discharged offenders.
Use that warning as a routing rule. Active parole or conditional release may remain searchable, while final discharge calls for the historical data, a custodian request, or court proof.
Dade County Sentence Restrictions
Missouri does not have one safe percentage for every prison term. RSMo 558.011 ordinarily divides covered felony terms into a prison portion and a conditional-release portion, but exceptions are broad. For covered terms of nine years or less, the ordinary conditional portion is one-third; for terms from more than nine through fifteen years it is three years; and for terms over fifteen years it is five years. The statute also permits lawful extensions.
RSMo 558.019 imposes minimum prison terms in defined cases. A person convicted of a dangerous felony as defined by Missouri law and committed to MODOC generally must serve 85 percent before parole, conditional release, or another early release, subject to the statute's provisions. The 85 percent rule does not apply to every felony. Prior commitments can affect minimum terms, and the offense date controls which legislative version applies.
Consecutive sentences need added analysis under RSMo 217.690. Jail credit can reduce time under the official calculation, but it does not erase a statutory parole bar. A Board guideline is also not a grant. The Missouri Parole Board may lawfully set a date above or below a guideline range, deny release, defer a decision, or later rescind a set date.
Why Dade County Dates Move
Dates change when the facts or legal authority change. Some changes shorten the calculated time, while others delay release or send the person into successor custody. The records should be read in date order, with the newest judgment and agency action controlling over an older screen.
| Change | Possible effect | Best confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Corrected jail credit | Moves the calculated endpoint | Amended judgment and jail calculation |
| Consecutive sentence or new case | Adds custody time or another hold | Court docket and commitment record |
| Conduct or program issue | Can affect a tentative state release | Institutional caseworker |
| Board action | Grant, denial, deferment, cancellation, or rescission | Actual Board notice |
| Release-plan issue | May delay presumptive parole | Institutional parole office |
| Detainer | May cause transfer instead of community release | Releasing and receiving agencies |
| Data correction | Changes a displayed field without a new sentence | MODOC custodian response |
A future parole hearing is not a release decision. The Board's published process says eligible offenders are ordinarily scheduled around four months before minimum eligibility, with exceptions. Decisions normally take eight to twelve weeks. MOVANS registrants may receive notice when a decision is entered, but the institutional parole office is the proper route for a specific release date and home plan.
Verify Dade County Actual Release
For local custody, request the release-event or movement record from the custodian that held the person. Ask for release date and time, release type, authority, and receiving agency if transferred. If Dade says the person was not held locally, ask where Dade transported the person. That answer may identify Cedar County rather than disprove the arrest.
For a state term, use the DOC number in an inquiry to the institutional caseworker, MODOC Constituent Services, or the public-records custodian. Public MODOC information can include sentence, judgment, supervision term, parole or conditional-release date, and Board decision. Closed assessment, treatment, victim, health, and pre-sentence material should not be requested as though it were public.
A pending alert can be registered through the Dade County VINELink check. A notification is still a lead. The actual release or transfer must match the jail, court, or MODOC record that owns the event.
Keep the exact date label, source, and retrieval date with any answer. That small record prevents a tentative parole date from later being mistaken for the maximum date or the actual day of release.
Dade County Date Record Requests
When the public screens do not resolve a date, ask the office for the record it already keeps. For a local term, request the current judgment, any amended judgment, the qualifying jail-credit entry, and the jail's calculated custody endpoint. The Dade County Circuit Clerk can supply open court documents by its published form process. Its docket route is especially useful when a sentence was changed, probation was revoked, or a later case added a hold.
The jail request should identify the person, Dade case number, booking number if known, and the exact custody dates. Ask for the admission and release movement, calculated sentence end, applied credit that is open, release type, and receiving agency if transferred. Do not demand that staff create a new projection. If no standalone calculation is open, ask which existing record contains the current endpoint and who can explain the field label.
For MODOC, include the DOC number. Department public information can include present offenses, sentence and judgment, county of conviction, supervision term, confirmation of supervision, custody or bond status, parole or conditional-release date, and the Board's release decision. Other case-management information may be closed. A historical discharge inquiry can go to OD.SunshineRequest@doc.mo.gov, while a Board-record request can go to ParoleBoard.SunshineRequest@doc.mo.gov.
Missouri Sunshine procedure distinguishes response from production. RSMo 610.023 calls for access or a detailed explanation by the end of the third business day after receipt, but a complex record may take longer to produce. RSMo 610.026 governs permitted copying and research charges. Ask for electronic delivery of an existing electronic record and an itemized estimate before costs pass a stated limit.
Finally, reconcile the answer against successor custody. A release date from Cedar may be the day the person entered MODOC. A MODOC parole date may be physical release followed by District 9 supervision. A final discharge date is different again. The date is reliable only when its label, agency, and custody stage stay attached.
