Dade County Release Records Defined
A release record marks the end of one agency's responsibility for a person. It is not the same document as an arrest report, booking entry, or court judgment. In Dade County, that difference is especially important. Sheriff Ryan Robison's office may hold the arrest and transport records, while the Cedar County detention custodian may hold the admission, housing, property, and release transaction. The court supplies the legal authority. If the person entered state prison, the Missouri Department of Corrections holds the later prison release and discharge data.
The word released does not always mean free in the community. A bond release, court-ordered release, dismissal after hold checks, or completion of a jail sentence can end physical custody. A transfer to Cedar, MODOC, another county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE ends one custody event but begins another. An escape is not a release. Death ends custody but should not be described as a community release. The release type and destination are therefore as important as the timestamp.
Dade County Inmate Release Types
The custodian's exact release code should be read with the Dade court case and any receiving-agency record. Similar-looking events can have very different meanings. A posted bond does not end the criminal case. Probation and parole both place a person in the community, but they arise from different legal paths. A state commitment is not a release from incarceration even if the county jail labels its own event as a release to MODOC.

Dade County Release Record Fields
No official Dade or Cedar public data dictionary promises a fixed set of fields. A focused request should ask for existing fields and use the phrase “if maintained.” The most useful record connects identity, admission, legal authority, release time, and destination. That combination helps distinguish a person who entered the community from one delivered to a successor agency.

Does a court dismissal prove the jail door time? No. The court record explains authority, while the releasing custodian records the physical movement. Other holds and transport processing can delay departure after a Dade case changes.
Request Dade County Release Records
Begin with the official Dade County directory. It identifies Sheriff Ryan Robison, the county number 417-238-2400, and the courthouse at 300 W. Water Street, Greenfield, Missouri. The directory does not publish a dedicated sheriff Sunshine request form, email, or fee schedule. Call to identify the current records custodian, submission method, and costs. Do not assume the courthouse address is the proper destination for every sheriff request.
- Provide the exact legal name, a second identifier, the Dade case number, and a narrow date range.
- Ask for the existing release-event or custody-movement record, not every record about the person.
- Request the release time, type, authority, and receiving agency or destination if transferred.
- Ask Dade to identify the actual detention custodian. If Cedar held the person, direct the admission and release request to Cedar.
- Request electronic delivery and an itemized estimate before costs exceed a stated amount. Ask for the open portion if other material is closed.
Missouri Sunshine Law section 610.023 requires an agency response as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day after receipt. That is a response deadline, not a promise that all records will be produced within three days. Section 610.026 governs allowable copying and research fees. Underlying local records can remain in agency systems longer than any public web display, but the custodian must identify the relevant retention series and any legal hold.
Who Corrects a Dade Release Record?
A Dade County release record can be split among several custodians. Correcting an error starts by locating the field's owner. Dade may own the arrest entry, warrant return, transport event, or originating booking number. Cedar may own the detention admission, release timestamp, release code, property notation, or image it created. The Dade County Circuit Clerk owns the judgment and docket. MODOC owns state location history, sentence completion, parole, conditional release, and final discharge fields.
Send the correction evidence to the agency that created the disputed entry. A Cedar time error should not be framed as a demand that Dade rewrite Cedar's database. A mistaken court disposition belongs with the court process. A completed MODOC sentence that still appears active requires the department to reconcile its data. Include the stable identifier, exact field, source document, and requested correction. For sealed or expunged matters, provide the order and identify the public entry affected.

The Dade County Circuit Clerk gives a concrete local method: open Missouri Case.net, choose the 28th Judicial Circuit, and search the litigant. A case number is stronger than a name-only match. Review charges, bond entries, warrants where open, disposition, judgment, sentence, jail credit, probation orders, revocations, and any commitment to MODOC. Court data often remains available after a person leaves the jail roster, but it may not show the exact minute custody ended.

If a needed judgment is not remotely viewable, the Dade clerk's page supplies a copy form and local prices. In-person copies cost $0.25 per page, with $5 added for each certified document. Mail requests use the form, photo identification, $3 per noncertified or $5 per certified document, page charges, and postage. Email requests send the form and identification to dade.circuit.court.email@courts.mo.gov, with payment arranged by phone at 417-637-2741. The stated mail turnaround is about five business days after receipt.

Can a Dade Release Happen in Stockton?
Yes. The official Cedar County material says its Law Enforcement Center and Detention Center holds people from several counties. A Cedar County Commission account separately counted Dade prisoners there. The facility is at 113 South Street in Stockton. As a result, a person tied to a Dade arrest or court case may physically leave custody in Cedar County rather than at the Greenfield courthouse.
This intercounty arrangement changes the request path. Dade should identify where the person was held and provide its arrest or transport event. Cedar should provide its admission and release movement. Ask Cedar whether the event meant bond or community release, Dade pickup, another-county pickup, delivery to MODOC, or another receiving agency. Do not use Cedar's City Tele Coin communications link as a release locator. No official routine release hour, public waiting point, weekend procedure, or transportation service was found, so families should confirm logistics with the actual releasing jail.
Find a Released Dade County Inmate
The strongest Dade County released inmate search traces one named person through each relevant system. Start with the county case and actual holding facility. Then check state supervision, notification data, or federal custody only if the known custody chain points there. A current roster is secondary because it answers who is listed now, not when or why someone left.

MODOC Search for Dade Releases
The Missouri Department of Corrections Offender Search covers active offenders, including people on probation and parole. It requires first and last name and an image challenge, and it searches aliases. A field-office location may mean the person is physically released from prison but remains supervised. County-jail-only custody may never appear. Compare the DOC number, offense, county, sentence, and any public status fields rather than relying on a name alone.

That warning explains why an empty result cannot establish that a fully discharged person never had a Missouri corrections record.

The department documents fields for a permanent DOC number, sentence-completed flag, sentence date and length, minimum and maximum release dates, location history, supervision, and court or county data. A completed flag and end-dated location history can corroborate discharge. They are not substitutes for a certificate or written custodian response.

Dade County Release Search Channels
Each system answers a different question. MOVANS supplies timely custody and court notifications for a specific person but is not a certified release record. Its local-jail users needed a new registration effective May 6, 2026. MODOC and court notification support remain separately administered. The Missouri sex offender registry applies only to people with a current statutory registration duty and is not a general released-inmate list.
Federal cases require federal tools. The BOP Inmate Locator may show “Released” and a date for many records since 1982. Federal pretrial custody may remain with the U.S. Marshals Service in a contract bed, so the federal docket and responsible district may be needed. If a county record says released to ICE, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator and request the county transfer field. No source established a routine Dade or Cedar ICE detention contract.

Dade County Release Facilities
The facility map follows the real custody chain. The Dade County Sheriff's Office begins many local records. Cedar County may hold and physically release a Dade detainee. MODOC institutions handle state commitments, while District 9 verifies community supervision. BOP and ICE apply only when the case or transfer record supports federal custody.
